Ervin (Erv) R. Schacht, 71, loving husband to Janice for 50 years; caring father to Tim (Michelle) and Jason (Allie); fun grandfather to his beloved grandsons, Harrison and Henry; loved uncle by his nieces and nephews. Passed away bravely and peacefully at his home in Medina County on Friday, February 3rd, 2023. Erv, a lifelong Medina resident, graduated from Brunswick High School in 1970. He met his “Janny” while they were working at Banner Sales, him in the photography department, and her in jewelry. They later married in 1973 and raised their two sons in Medina. Erv was an avid photographer who loved being outdoors capturing the perfect picture. At Forest Meadow Villas, where Erv worked for 33 years, he was loved by the residents and enjoyed being part of the community. Erv taught his sons the value of hard work every summer when they’d work for him as summer help. Known for being a jack of all trades, Erv loved to tinker, and could be counted on to help anyone fix practically anything. At every gathering, you could count on Erv’s quiet wit and sense of humor. He was reliably generous with his time and talent, always willing to help friends and family. He will be missed dearly.
Erv is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elletra Schacht, and sister Elletra Lou Woodruff. A private celebration of life is being planned for the summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation . The family would love to hear stories and thoughts of Erv.
