Elmer Vincent Rogers Jr. passed away peacefully on January 21st 2022 at the age of 88. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Dorothy; his brother, David; and sister, Dorothy June Rogers. Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Judith Rogers (née Searle) of 63 years; his sister, Ruth Nixon (Bruce); two daughters, Eileen Rogers (Robert Simmons) and Kathleen Cika (Daniel); three granddaughters, Katlyn Cika, Elizabeth Shaffer (Aaron), and Megan Cika (Luke Robinson); and two great-grandchildren, Samson and Zoe Codeluppi.
Elmer was a proud Navy Veteran from the Korean War, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Al Koran Shriners, and a 51-year member of West Park United Church of Christ. Elmer was also an employee of Pipeline Development Company from 1958 to 1996. In his free time, Elmer enjoyed golfing, going on bike rides, spending his time exploring new places, discovering new trains and lighthouses, helping others through his work with the Shriners, and spending time with loved ones.
A Memorial Service in Elmer’s honor will be held at West Park UCC on Saturday January 29th, 2022 at 11am, with a reception to follow. Please direct all donations to either West Park UCC or Al Koran Transportation Unit.
