In memory of a wonderful loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He filled our lives with his wisdom and humor, and with his respect for all things in life. He and his beloved wife, Joyce Miller Butler, were married for 23 years. They built a good life together, having lived in Crawley, England for five years before returning to the United States in 2007. Ray became a US Citizen in 2011, and loved his new country and the Brunswick, Ohio area where they chose to live.
Ray joined the RAF as a boy entrant at age 15. During his life he loved traveling, and visited many countries. He retired from Ford Motor Company at Dagenham after 24 years of service, and kept in touch with most of his workmates for many years. Once you were a friend of Ray's, you were a friend for life. He also loved his time on the job at Gatwick London Airport, where he led a ground crew team of cargo loaders.
Ray was a very lucky man. He had family and many friends on two continents who loved him and cherished his love and knowledge of history, and his quirky sense of humor. He was outgoing and always gracious; a rarity. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
