Larry E Smigla

Larry E. Smigla, originally from Jerome, Pennsylvania and a longtime resident of Brook Park, Ohio, passed away on December 8, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer. He met every challenge with the quiet strength, resilience, and dignity that defined his life.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying the values of duty and honor with him throughout his life. After his service, he dedicated many years to Ohio Bell, where he was respected for his steady work ethic and reliability. He later continued his commitment to protecting others through his work in hospital security in California.

Aviation was one of Larry’s greatest joys. He loved volunteering at the Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville, California, where he found community and purpose. He also enjoyed building model airplanes, a hobby that reflected his patience, creativity, and attention to detail.

Larry is survived by his son, David (Jennifer); his sister, Maryann (Joe); his brother, Rick (Linda); and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Proudfit and Patty Baker, whose memories remained close to his heart.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet humor, and the genuine warmth he brought to every relationship. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.

A short service will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44273, on Wednesday, December 17th at 9:30 AM. A celebration of life will be scheduled in January.
