Kathleen A. Kissell (nee Wilhelm), 76 of Richfield passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Kathy and her husband Tom were high school sweethearts from Put In Bay High School, and were married for 49 years – they were each other’s everything. She was the original typist for many of Tom’s textbooks and was a great stay at home mom. She and Tom loved taking RV trips together to Florida and Michigan. At home, Kathy was a great cook, an avid knitter and sewer, and she loved all things related to Christmas. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer with the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, Ohio. She was really fond of spoiling dachshunds, and had five of them over her lifetime – she leaves behind a very sweet and energetic Heidi. Kathy also looked forward to all of her daughter Kelly’s stories about her students at the Crossings English Center.
Kathleen is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Wilhelm; children, Christopher Kissell and Kelly Starkey (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Cassidy Kissell, Shelby Starkey, Christina Kissell, Robert Starkey, George Kissell, Matthew Starkey, Grace Starkey, and Amber Pavon; 6 great grandchildren; and siblings, Karen Burris (Dale), Susan Seaberg (Tom), and Charlie Wilhelm (Susan).
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Wilhelm; husband, Thomas Kissell; and brothers, Mark and John Wilhelm.
Kathy was a beloved member of the “Clarkey Family,” a title given to her weekly family dinner group and she will also be dearly missed by her “sister” Barb Starkey, and Jenny, Adam, Leland and Wesley Clark, too.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Crossings Akron, 866 Berwin St., Akron, OH 44310.
Bollinger Funeral Services is honored to be assisting the family.
