Jeanne Hoffman

Jeanne Gray Hoffman, 91, of Brunswick, Ohio went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Sunday May 10th where she was met by her parents, Dr. James and Freda Gray; and her brother Thomas Gray and sister Helen Gray Shattuck, stepson Elwood “Woody” F. Balash, stepdaughter Cherrylee Elliott and her granddaughter Kathryn M. Balash.

Jeanne was born May 15th, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Rocky River High School in 1952 and briefly attended Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia. She moved to Brunswick in 1959 where she became a lifelong resident. She went to work for the J. M. Smucker Company in Medina where she earned the nickname “Pickles” until the late 1970’s when they closed. Jeanne then went to work for Plasti-Kote in Medina until her retirement in 1996.

She loved to be outside and was passionate for indoor and outdoor gardening, she even transformed one of her bedrooms into an indoor “plant room”. She loved swimming, bicycling, fishing as well as bird watching, anything to be outdoors. She also spent her time reading, spending time with her grandson and watching NASCAR racing.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Freda Sue Balash, son, Charles M. Hoffman (Annette), grandson, Charles W. Hoffman (Julie), sister-in-law, Gloria Gray, nieces, Amy Hills (Tom), Kathy Mahoney (Dennis), Tisha Bruemmer (Joe), nephew, James Gray and daughter-in-law, Carla Balash.

The family would like to thank all of the people who helped keep Jeanne comfortable in the last several years; Cleveland Clinic Hospice, her home nursing team, family friend Debbie Maldonado, and most importantly, her daughter Freda who was her main caregiver for the last 15 years.
