Jacqueline "Jackie" Oberg

Jacqueline Laura (Vargo) Oberg, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Westlake, Ohio. Born on April 26, 1936, in Cleveland, she was the beloved daughter of Stanley and Enis (Noble) Vargo.

Jackie was a devoted wife to the late John Oberg, a loving mother to Jeffrey (Denise) Provenzale and Janna Oberg, and a cherished grandmother to Nicolas Oberg.

She dedicated over 40 years of her life to teaching third grade in the Cleveland School District, shaping countless young minds with compassion and commitment. Jackie also served as an honorary “mom” to many of the young men in the Denbrook DeMolay and was an active member of the Eastern Stars Elbrook Chapter. Her faith and community were central to her life, as a longtime member of Brooklyn Heights United Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th at Busch Funeral Home, 4334 Pearl Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109. There will be an Eastern Star service at 7:30 pm.  Funeral services will take place the following day, Thursday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m., at Brooklyn Heights United Church of Christ, 2005 W. Schaaf Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109, with burial to follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, 4700 Broadview Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dyslexia Center or Hospice of the Western Reserve, in Jackie’s memory.
