Elaine “Gege” Chetnik, (96), peacefully passed away, joining our Lord, on Sunday, March 19, 2023. She was born and raised by her loving mother, Olga Tamblyn, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a graduate of John Hay High School. She then spent the majority of her life raising her family in Parma, Ohio with her late husband, Edward F. Chetnik.
Gege is survived by their six beloved children, Denise McDaniel (Jack), Sandra Chetnik-Norris (Greg), Edward “Butch” Chetnik (Pattie), James Chetnik (Pam), Jeannine Pasadyn (Leon), and Lisa Swisher (Brookes); as well as 24 grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, and Levi Swisher; Selena, Vanessa, Cassandra, and Felicia Pasadyn; Mason, Olivia, and Alex Chetnik; Nathan, Rebecca, Zachary, and Samuel Norris; Carrie, John, Jennifer, James, Melissa, Joseph, Jessica, Jeffrey, Kimberly, Corey, Jocelyn, Alison, and Loren McDaniel; and numerous great grandchildren.
Gege was passionate about her family and supported her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. She was a regular on the sidelines of athletic events, concerts, and religious milestones, among their many other life events. She also enjoyed camping trips with family, line dancing, playing cards with dear friends who described her as sweet, traveling the United States to visit loved ones, participating in her Catholic Church community, and engaging with the Parma Senior Center. Gege will forever be remembered for her self-sacrifice, deep love, and compassion toward family and friends. She was an unwavering source of generosity and wisdom for those who were blessed to be a part of her life.
A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery,14609 Brookpark Rd, Brook Park, Ohio on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
