Dorothy A Silk

Dorothy Silk (née Abram), 96, of Valley City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 24, 1928, in Valley City, Ohio, Dorothy was the daughter of Anna (Brettschneider) and Walter Abram. She graduated from Liverpool High School and later married the love of her life, John Silk, on October 11, 1952 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Valley City. They shared a devoted life together until John's passing in 2017.

Dorothy and John co-owned and operated Valley City Builders Supply, proudly serving the community since 1961.

A woman of deep faith and unwavering love for her family, Dorothy found great joy in her church, her home, and her garden - and most of all, her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She had a gift for making others feel loved, supported, and at home in her presence.

She is survived by her Sister Lee Abram Schweikl, four children Henry Silk (Joyce), Holly (Ron) Pierce, Randy Silk, Sue Kronenberger and her cherished grandchildren: Kristy (Jon) Kenniston -Tetlak, Anne Kenniston, Chris Kronenberger, Adam Kronenberger, and Jessica Kronenberger; and her great-grandchildren: Payton, Cobin, and Quinn Tetlak.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Silk, and her sister, Helen Andrukat. Jeff Kronenberger, Patty Silk and infant son.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Rd., Valley City, OH 44280. A reception and meal will follow. Those that can’t make it and wish to participate, the service will be live and recorded on you-tube. https://www.spvc.org

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dorothy’s memory.

Dorothy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
