David Mark Rainey passed away suddenly at his home on January 8, 2026. Born March 10, 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert and Patricia (Grube) Rainey. David graduated from Medina High School and went on to find success at Kent State University, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He found a rewarding career in the field of technology, where he earned his coworkers respect along with their hearts.
We will remember David as a gentle giant who was a beloved son, brother, and friend. He loved to game with friends, especially Magic: The Gathering, and Warhammer. He was an avid reader and had a quick wit that kept us all laughing. He loved his cat Buddy and the peace that working from home brought him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Rainey. He is survived by his father, Robert Rainey; brothers, Robert (Tanya) Rainey, Michael Rainey, John (Cassie) Rainey; his sisters, Catherine (Jeremy) Husk, and Anne Marie (Armando) Sanchez; nieces, Olivia Rainey, Abigail Rainey, Taylor Husk, Hailey Husk, and Amelia Sanchez; nephews, Tyler Husk, Andres Sanchez; and baby boy Sanchez, due in February. He leaves behind countless other family members and friends.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who loved him. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be sent to Jingle Jam for Autism Research or the Medina County Library.
