In Loving Memory of Cristi (Brooke) McAleese

Cristi (Brooke) McAleese was a remarkable woman whose intelligence, creativity, generosity, fighting spirit, and enormous heart touched the lives of so many people. She was someone who cared deeply for others, often putting the needs of those around her before her own. Even with all of these qualities, it was her good heart and genuine compassion that truly made her special. She was selfless and believed in helping others whenever she could. She had a strong spirit and a “women power” attitude that reflected the strength and determination she carried throughout her life.

She loved her work and took great pride in what she did. She worked hard and was always busy with projects, bringing her creativity and intelligence into everything she pursued. She was proud of her accomplishments and, even in her illness, wanted to find a way to help others, having stated many times, “I’m going to make it into the white (academic) papers one day.”

Above all else, she treasured her family. Her love for her son was at the center of her world and she loved being a mom. Her family meant everything to her and the love she had for them was evident in the way she lived her life.

Cristi (Brooke) is survived by her beloved husband, Chris Ames; her son, Liam McAleese-Ames; her sister, Courtney McAleese; her brother, Stacey McAleese, and sister-in-law, Rachel McAleese; as well as her extended family and loved ones, including her niece, Caiya; her nephew, Noah; her nieces, Taygon and Tanzy; her mother-in-law, Sheree Simmons; and her father-in-law, David Ames. She also leaves behind her cherished “Golden Girls”—Kristin Tate, Tiffany Sprague, and Sarah Conrad—who were an important part of her life and loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James McAleese and Patricia Johnson.

Her family would also like to extend special thanks to her Signet work family, whom she valued and loved dearly. They were there for her and supported her every step of the way, in health and in illness, and continue to do so. They also wish to thank her oncologist, Dr. Andrew Dhawan (Cleveland Clinic), for his valiant work and the care and compassion he showed throughout her journey, and her extended Kwanmukan (Karate) family for all of their love and assistance given to her, her son, and her husband along the way.

She will be remembered for her brilliant mind, creative spirit, strength, generosity, and most of all, her love for her family and the people around her. She made a difference simply by being herself, and those who knew and loved her will carry her memory with them always.

Her life was a gift, her love was unconditional, and her memory will never be forgotten.
